The Best Disney Planning Resources

Tips and Tricks

Planning a Disney trip can be overwhelming. How are you supposed to know the best restaurants to go to, what a FastPass is, or which hotel to stay at? I felt the same way when I planned a trip for the first time 6 years ago. I’ve planned many of my trips since then as well as helped my friends and family plan theirs. I couldn’t have done it without some of the resources out there who provide incredibly helpful content to help plan your trip. Here are some of my favorite Disney planning resources to help you plan your next trip.

WDW Prep School

When I planned my first Disney World vacation WDW Prep School, was my one of my go-to resources. Shannon has so much content, ranging from the very basics of how to start planning a trip, to great blog articles about the latest happenings and special events at the parks. If you’re feeling completely lost on where to start planning your trip, Shannon provides you with a great six step planning process that will have you planning like a pro in no time.

Touring Plans

Touring Plans is one of my favorite websites to help plan all of the logistics of your trip. While Touring Plans provides plenty of free content, I recommend paying $15.95 for the year to subscribe to some of their premium services. With the premium subscription, you get access to crowd calendars, dining reservation finder, pre-made touring plans, the Touring Plans Lines app, and their room request feature. There is also plenty of great free content on Touring Plans as well, such as their touring plans optimization feature where you can enter in everything you want to get done at the parks in a day and based on the estimated crowd levels and where everything in the park is located, Touring Plans will provide you with an optimized plan for your day. Touring plans also has great recommendations on which FP+’s to book and so much more.

Disney Food Blog

When it comes to helping you plan dining on your Disney World trip, Disney Food Blog is the place to go. Disney Food Blog has reviews of every restaurant on property along with their menus and expected prices. Disney Food Blog can help you get the most bang for your buck on the dining plan and help you find the must-have snacks at the parks. If you would rather watch a video than read an article, Disney Food Blog is one of my favorite accounts on YouTube with playlists for every interest.

If I want an honest review of anything at Disney World I look to Disney Tourist Blog. Tom’s posts are always entertaining and informative and he never shies away from the truth. He’s always on it to report some of the latest news or review some of the newest hotels and restaurants. Take a look at his resort comparison posts if you’re still trying to figure out which resort is best for your stay.

Crowdsourcing

Sometimes, the best way to gather information is to just ask. There are plenty of Disney Fans out there who would love to answer your questions or provide you with their input. One of my favorite places to go to get a number of answers, is DISboards. DISboards has thousands of threads on just about any Disney topic you could think of, the perfect place to crowdsource an answer. Another great resource for crowdsourcing is Disney Facebook groups. Some of my favorites that I belong to are Disney World Junkies, DISboards on facebook, and Walt Disney World Adults Only (for my Childless Millennials out there).

Walt Disney World’s Website

Sometimes the best place to get information is Disney’s own website. That’s where you will find a comprehensive list of attractions and restaurants as well as many extras and tours you can book as well. My Disney Experience allows you to select your FastPasses and book your dining reservations with a click of a button. And don’t forget to download the app for while you are in the parks to check wait times, get FastPasses, and more.
